Windows Live Writer

Windows Live Writer

Blog your heart out
Writer makes it easy to share your photos and videos on almost any blog service—Windows Live, Wordpress, Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, and many more.
Writer makes my blogging activity easy. One tools that I love from Writer is the Ping Servers which enables me to send pings to any pinging service I like. I can also update my ping server list. There is no need to ping manually one by one. It takes a lot of time you know.
Blog almost anywhere
Writer lets you publish to almost any blog service, including Windows Live, Wordpress, Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, SharePoint, Community Server, and many more. Don’t have a blog yet? Writer can help you set one up.
Writer also help me to create a new blog (known as Space) Take a look at my Space . I don`t like it much as it plain and the domain is too long >> http://yourblogname.spaces.live.com . I prefer blogspot for free domain.
What you see is what you get
With Writer, you can preview everything you’re adding to your blog, to see how the fonts, spacing, colors, and images will look, before you publish to your blog.
Yup, I had use Writer and it`s good like Microsoft FrontPage. But much more better. Drag and drop. By the way, you can also schedule your post, categorize it as usual.

One thing for sure, my summary post didn`t work well in preview mode. It show everything of the post (on mian page) not summaries with thumbnails.
Look like a pro
It's fast and easy to make your photos look great on your blog. Insert them and apply cool borders and effects. You can even pull your photos together into an album—just select the style you want and Writer takes care of the rest. When you publish, Writer automatically saves your picture or album online and links them to your blog.
I can`t publish a post with image. It said 'remote server return error (403). Didn`t know why. Maybe problem with the server or the Writer setting.

Videos bring your blog to life
Writer can help you publish videos to Soapbox on MSN Video, or to YouTube, and embed them in your blog. And just like photos, it’s easy to align, resize, and caption your videos, so they look just the way you want them to.

Plug in some extras
Writer is already packed with useful features, but if you like to tinker, there are all sorts of plug-ins you can add to help you do even more—like insert your stuff from Facebook, Flickr, or other websites.
It`s like adding some widget to your Blogger platform. Some cool plug-in that you may consider are FacebookPhotos, Twitter Notify, Insert File(s), Social Bookmarking Tags for Windows Live Writer and many more.
You may download this software here
It comes in suite when you download Windows Live Messenger. So, check your computer whether you have already.

16 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Denise Wakeman16 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog
By Denise Wakeman

You've got your blog set up and you've started posting pithy, useful information that your niche market would benefit from and enjoy. Days go by, you keep publishing, but no one comments and your traffic stats are barely registering. What do you do?

Like any website you own, you must do some blog promotion to start driving traffic to your site. Here are 16 steps, in no particular order of importance, that you can start doing now to get traffic moving to your blog.

1. Set up an email subscription form on your blog and invite everyone in your network to subscribe: family, friends, colleagues, clients, associates.

2. Set up a feed on MyYahoo.com so your site gets regularly spidered by the Yahoo search engine.

3. Read and comment on other blogs that are in your target niche. Don't write things like "nice blog" or "great post." Write intelligent, useful comments with a link to your blog.

4. Use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories. Do this every time you publish.

5. Submit your blog to traditional search engines.

6. Submit your blog to blog directories.

Tip: Create a form to track your submissions; this can take several hours when you first start so schedule an hour a day for submitting or hire a VA to do it for you.

7. Add a link to your blog in your email signature file.

8. Put a link to your blog on every page of your website.

9. If you publish a newsletter, make sure you have a link to your blog in every issue.

10. Include a link to your blog as a standard part of all outgoing correspondence such as autoresponder sequences, sales letters, reports, white papers, etc.

11. Print your blog URL on your business cards, brochures and flyers.

12. Make sure you have an RSS feed URL that people can subscribe to. The acronym RSS means Rich Site Summary, or some may consider its meaning as Really Simple Syndication. It is a document type that lists updates of websites or blogs available for syndication. These RSS documents (also known as 'feeds') may be read using aggregators (news readers). RSS feeds may show headlines only or both headlines and summaries.

13. Post often to keep attracting your subscribers to come back and refer you to others in their networks; include links to other blogs, articles and websites in your posts

14. Use Trackback links when you quote or refer to other blog posts. What is TrackBack? Essentially what this does is send a message from one server to another server letting it know you have posted a reference to their post. The beauty is that a link to your blog is now included on their site.

15. Write articles to post around the web in article directories. Include a link to your blog in the author info box (See example in our signature below).

16. Make a commitment to blog everyday. 10 minutes a day can help increase your traffic as new content attracts search engine spiders. Put it on your calendar as a task every day at the same time.

Tip: Use a hit counter to track your visitor stats: how many unique visitors, how many page views, average length of visit.

17 Ways to Keep Your Blog Interesting

Bobbi Linkemer17 Ways to Keep Your Blog Interesting
By Bobbi Linkemer

For new and seasoned bloggers, alike, keeping blog content interesting and relevant can be a challenge. Where do you find new ideas? What do you do when the well runs dry or you experience writers block? How do you know what your readers really want? This article offers 17 suggestions for keeping your blog lively and informative.

1. Read everything you can in your area of expertise. What are your peers writing about? If you keep coming across the same subjects, that's a clue. Research those subjects. Get on the bandwagon; blog about them, too.

2. Carry a little notebook around with you. Jot down ideas for blog content. Once you open your mind, you'll see new topics everywhere you look. Create a backlog of subject matter.

3. When you hit a wall, solicit guest posts. Invite others in your field or those interested in your subject to submit a short essay. Give them full credit.

4. Borrow a blog post from someone else. Be sure you get permission to use it and attribute its source. Create a link on your blog to the site; perhaps it will also link to yours.

5. Feature other professionals. Interview interesting people in or out of your field and write profiles. If they have websites or blogs, be sure to link to them.

6. Think of your blog as a conversation starter. Talk to your readers. Solicit comments, and respond to them right away. Create a dialog.

7. Search for and read great blogs to see what makes them great. You will learn from them, be inspired by them, and get ideas from them. Subscribe to the ones you want to read regularly.

8. Stick to your theme. Readers have come to expect certain subject matter from you. If you wander all over the place, as the spirit moves you, you may find it interesting, but your readers could find it confusing.

9. Let your personality shine through your writing. When you're real, you are naturally engaging. Readers respond to that lack of artifice.

10. Take a look at articles you have written. Could they be converted into short, punchy blog posts? That's a good way to recycle ideas and material.

11. When you're not sure what your readers want, ask them. Pose questions, conduct a survey, conduct interviews, request suggestions for future blog posts. Post responses.

12. Create a "best posts page" category on your main page; link to your best posts. Do a blog post with summaries of the best of the best.

13. Remember, you are a resource. Take stock of what you know. Think about questions you've been asked in the past. Then, answer them. Always give your readers something.

14. Add elements to your main page: your blog list, latest twitter messages, favorite websites. Create interest by linking to any person, website, or blog you quote or mention.

15. Tell success stories--yours, your clients', or your readers'. What was the problem? How was it solved? What were the results? What lessons can be learned from this situation.

16. Recommend books and resources you have found helpful. Write book reviews and provide descriptions of and links to resources.

17. Delivery, packaging, and presentation count. Make your blog visually appealing. If your present blog host doesn't provide flexibility in design or the look you want, check out others. Conversely, keep you design clean and uncluttered. Too many elements can be distracting.

This list barely scratches the surface of ways to create and keep interest in your blog alive and well. Do a search on twitter, Google, or yahoo for blogs on blogging and soak up the wisdom. This is a hot topic with new books by expert bloggers appearing every day.
